Zach Cardwell has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Zach started their career at Purdue University as a HORIZONS Math/Science Tutor from 2006 to 2008. Zach then worked at Marsh Supermarkets, starting as a Data Coordinator and eventually working at corporate. During their time at Marsh, they implemented improvements in merchandise logistics, reduced labor costs, and automated processes using Bash, Perl, and similar tools. From 2015 to 2016, Zach worked as a Data Scientist at KSM Consulting, where they provided consulting services to the State of Indiana and Mainstreet Investments. Zach developed innovative algorithms for optimal facility locations, tax fraud detection, and SQL query optimization, primarily using R and occasionally Python.
In 2016, Zach joined DemandJump as a Data Scientist, where they developed language algorithms for the platform and applied graph theory, algebraic topology, information theory, and other mathematical concepts. Zach primarily used Python, with occasional use of R and Scala. From 2017 to 2019, Zach held the position of Data Scientist at Springbuk, where they built and led the Data Science practice. Their work focused on process improvement, algorithm development, and predictive analytics in the healthcare space. Zach and their team implemented algorithms and processes that reduced organizational costs and predicted diseases from claims data.
In 2017, Zach founded DATA317, where they currently serve as the CEO. The company specializes in solving complex problems in government, industry, and nonprofits using cutting-edge techniques and common sense to deliver actionable results. Lastly, Zach worked at Vertex Intelligence as the Chief Scientist from 2020 to 2021.
Zach Cardwell obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Purdue University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010.
