Katie Carter is a seasoned communications and outreach professional with extensive experience in emergency management and meteorology. Currently serving as the Regional Communications and Community Impact Manager at the Virginia Department of Emergency Management since December 2021, Katie develops a wide range of communication materials, manages social media content, and serves as a media spokesperson. Additionally, Katie is a meteorologist for ABC 8NEWS WRIC, where forecasts and severe weather information are communicated across multiple platforms. Previously, Katie held roles including News Anchor and Meteorologist at ABC 8NEWS and Meteorologist at 9&10 News, where initiatives in community engagement and social media innovation were emphasized. With a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Central Michigan University, Katie also has experience in food service management, contributing to a well-rounded professional background.
