Rachel Sumner

Chief Executive Officer at TALENTâ„¢ (Ontario Tech Talent)

Rachel Sumner has a diverse and extensive work experience. Rachel currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Ontario Tech Talent, where they focus on developing talent pipeline strategies to address talent shortages and skills gaps. Rachel is also an Investor at eQuo.

Prior to their current roles, Rachel worked as the Principal Consultant at Rachel Sumner Education & Training Consultancy, where they undertook various learning and development projects worldwide. Rachel also worked at Pearson as the Regional Partnership Director, leading a multi-million dollar initiative to develop an experiential digital learning service. Rachel was also the Managing Director and Regional Partnership Director for Pearson Online Learning Services, responsible for strategic direction and managing key partnership accounts.

Before Pearson, Rachel held positions such as the Director of Client Solutions and Professional Resources at Niagara Institute and Director of Executive Education at Dalhousie University. Rachel was also the Principal Curriculum Consultant at Coventry University and Head of Business Faculty at Kaplan Holborn College.

Rachel's earlier experience includes roles such as Curriculum Development Manager at Kaplan and Senior Lecturer in Strategy & International Business at the University of the West of England. Throughout their career, they have worked on projects in various sectors, mentored C-Suite clients, and specialized in start-up organizations and owner-led businesses.

Rachel Sumner's education history is as follows:

From 2009 to 2010, Rachel attended the Institute of Leadership and Management, where they obtained a PG Certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring.

Between 2000 and 2003, Rachel studied at The Open University, earning an MA (Ed) degree with a focus on Curriculum, Training, and the Future of Work.

From 1997 to 1999, Rachel attended the University of the West of England, where they received a BA (QTS) degree in Business Education.

Between 1994 and 1998, Rachel studied at The Open University, obtaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Social Science.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Rachel has also completed an Instructor Certification Course at Yellowdig in October 2021.
