Murphy served as a Deacon at Shannon Hills Bible Chapel from 1994 to 2015, completing multiple leadership terms, and functioned as Treasurer for Salem Ridge HOA from 2011 to 2013, managing financials and community services. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's in Business Administration & Economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and associate degrees in Business and Fire Science Technology from Guilford Technical Community College.
