Laura McMillan has a diverse background in scientific research and pharmaceutical work. Laura currently works at Sitryx as a Principal Scientist. Prior to their current role, they were an Associate Principal Scientist at Sitryx. Before joining Sitryx, Laura worked at Charles River Laboratories as a Team Leader and Senior Scientist, specializing in neuroimmunology and immunology. Laura also has experience as a Research Associate at the University of Bristol, where they investigated T cell signaling. Laura's earlier work includes a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Jena, focusing on neuronal signaling and dynamics. Laura began their career as a PhD student at the University of Bristol, studying the role of postranslational modifications in Alzheimer's Disease. Additionally, Laura gained industry experience as an Industrial Trainee at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
Laura McMillan's education history begins in 1995 when they attended Wilmington Friends School. After completing their year there, they moved on to Fallibroome High School, where they studied from 1996 to 2002. Following their secondary education, Laura enrolled at Durham University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry with an industrial placement. Laura studied at Durham University from 2003 to 2007. Continuing their education, Laura joined the University of Bristol in 2007 and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Molecular Neuroscience in 2008. Laura further pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Molecular Neuroscience at the same institution from 2008 to 2012.
