Stefaan Vancolen has a diverse work experience. Stefaan started their career in 1988 as an Officer in a tank battalion in the Belgian Defence. In 1992, they joined the Scandinavian Tobacco Group as President Director. Later in 1994, they served as the Honorary Consul of Belgium for East Java, Bali, and Lombok at the Belgian Consulate.

Stefaan Vancolen earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UFSAL Brussels in 1984. Stefaan then pursued a Master's degree in Economics from UFSIA Antwerp, which they completed in 1986. In 1988, they obtained a Post Graduate Degree in International Monetary and Trade theories from IUHEI Geneva.
