Irene Leung has over 20 years of work experience in the optical and hardware engineering field. Irene is currently a Principal Engineer at Lumentum, starting in December 2021. Before that, they worked at Infinera for 12 years, holding various roles, including Principal Development Engineer, Sr. Manager/Manager of HW Dev SDVT, and Staff/Sr. Optical Engineer. Prior to Infinera, they worked at Cisco Systems as an Optical/Hardware Engineer for 7 years. Irene's career started at Nortel (Cambrian) as a Co-op student.

Irene Leung obtained their Bachelor's degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo from 1996 to 2001. Irene later pursued a Master's degree in Engineering Management at the University of Ottawa starting from 2005.
