Jim Richards has extensive work experience in the fields of nutrition science, advocacy, and research. Jim is currently the Head of Nutrition Science and Advocacy at dsm-firmenich, a position they have held since September 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President and Global Segment Science Lead for Nutrition Science and Advocacy at the same company from March 2019 to September 2022.
Before joining dsm-firmenich, Jim Richards worked at RB as the Director of Global Nutrition Science for the Infant Formula and Child Nutrition division from January 2018 to March 2019. In this role, they developed and executed nutrition science strategies to drive innovation in pediatric formulas across routine, specialty, and regional portfolios.
From August 2017 to December 2017, Jim Richards held the position of Regulatory and Nutrition Science Director for Infant and Child Nutrition at Mead Johnson Nutrition. Prior to that, they served as the Associate Director of Global Regulatory and Nutrition Science at the same company from November 2013 to July 2017. In these roles, they developed and executed nutrition science and global regulatory strategies for nutritional formulas for infants and young children.
Before their time at Mead Johnson Nutrition, Jim Richards worked at Novus as an Executive Manager Biology Research and Science Fellow. In this role, they led innovative research programs in the animal nutrition and health fields and managed a diverse team of scientists. Jim held various positions at Novus from 2003 to 2013, including Senior Manager Biology Research and Science Fellow, Senior Manager Biology Research, and Manager Cell Biology Research.
Jim Richards began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Utah from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they worked as a Lecturer at Pomona College from 1998 to 1999.
Jim Richards completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Grinnell College from 1987 to 1991. Jim then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Program in Immunology at the University of California, San Francisco from 1991 to 1998.
