Kyle Chester began their work experience in 2006 as a Collegiate Fellow at Gustavus Adolphus College, where they served as a role model and organized functions for residents. Kyle also worked as an Academic Assistant, assisting professors with GIS analysis and data management.
In 2008, Kyle interned at the City of Sioux Falls, where they worked on an address survey project and updated city ordinances. Kyle also interned at NASA Ames Research Center as a DEVELOP Intern, conducting GIS-based research and modeling on Pacific Ocean hurricanes.
Starting in 2008, Kyle joined Xcel Energy, where they held various roles. As a Geospatial Analyst, they provided GIS assistance in permitting new transmission lines and conducted analysis of impacts on landscapes. Kyle later became a Senior Geospatial Analyst, developing spatial analysis and cartographic pieces used for various purposes. Kyle then became a Solutions Consultant, managing relationships with stakeholders to develop new technology projects and support business units.
From 2015 to 2018, Kyle worked at Esri as a Solutions Engineer and later as an Account Manager for electric and gas utilities. In these roles, they focused on providing solutions and managing accounts for utility companies.
In 2018, Kyle joined Minnesota Energy Resources as an Account Manager, responsible for managing accounts.
Since 2019, Kyle has been working at Dakota Electric Association as a Business Account Executive. In this role, they maintain relationships with high-level contacts at commercial, industrial, and municipal accounts. Kyle connects organizational energy/sustainability goals with utility program offerings and leads renewable energy programs.
Throughout their work experience, Kyle has consistently demonstrated their skills in GIS analysis, data management, relationship management, and project development.
Kyle Chester has a diverse education history. Kyle obtained a Master of Science degree in Management of Technology from the University of Minnesota, where they studied from 2011 to 2013. Prior to this, they pursued a degree in Geographic Information Sciences (MGIS) from the same university, completing it between 2007 and 2009. Kyle's undergraduate education was at Gustavus Adolphus College, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from 2003 to 2007.
In addition to their formal education, Kyle also holds several certifications. In 2012, they received the Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification from the GIS Certification Institute. Furthermore, in 2019, they obtained the Remote Pilot - Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) certification from the Federal Aviation Administration.
