Dr. David E. Smith has extensive experience in addiction medicine, currently serving as Chair of Addiction Medicine & MQAC at Muir Woods, Adolescent and Family Services since June 2013, and Chief of Addiction Medicine at Alta Mira Recovery Programs since 2011. As a Diplomate with the American Board of Addiction Medicine since 2009 and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine since 1997, Dr. Smith has made significant contributions to the field. Previously, Dr. Smith held various leadership roles, including Medical Director at Center Point and Chair of Adolescent Addiction Treatment at Newport Academy. Dr. Smith's academic background includes a post-doctoral fellowship in Pharmacology and Toxicology, along with an MD and MS from the University of California, San Francisco, and a BA in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley. Notable previous positions include founding and serving as Medical Director at the Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinic over a nearly four-decade career.
