Gieira Jones, PhD, is an Associate Director of outcomes research in precision medicine oncology at Merck, leading evidence generation studies using real-world data. Gieira collaborates with Value and Evidence Sub-teams and various stakeholders to address the value evidence needs for biomarker- and diagnostic-based oncology treatments. Previous experience includes roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Cancer Institute, a Graduate Researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an Epidemiologist at the National Cancer Institute, where Gieira focused on the microbiome's role in cancer risk and childhood obesity's impact on colon cancer. Earlier positions included health inspection at the City of Philadelphia and research roles at Drexel University College of Medicine and Temple University. Gieira holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master's in Epidemiology from Temple University, complemented by a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Elizabeth City State University.
