John Reese has a diverse work experience in software engineering. John currently works at Yubico as a Senior Software Engineer since September 2020. Prior to that, they gained extensive experience at Plex Systems, Inc. where they worked from June 2011 until September 2020. As a Senior Software Engineer at Plex, John focused on various aspects such as automation, developer tooling, testing, and policy. John also had an open source mindset, presenting their work at technical conferences and leading the development of the engineering blog. Additionally, John released many of the tools developed by their team to the open source community. Before joining Plex Systems, Inc., John worked as a Web Developer at Michigan Technological University from December 2009 to December 2011.

John Reese completed their education at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where they pursued a Master's degree in Software Engineering from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they attended Michigan Technological University from 2007 to 2011, earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Additionally, John has obtained several certifications, including the MCPS: Microsoft Certified Professional and MS: Programming in C# from Microsoft in April 2015. Recently, in May 2021, they achieved the CKAD: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer certification from The Linux Foundation and the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate certification from HashiCorp.
