Laura Huizing has a diverse work experience in various industries. Laura started their career as an F&B Trainee at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC in 2009. In 2011, they worked as a Business Development Trainee at HMSHost EMEA.
In 2012, Laura co-founded SmartWalletNL and served as its CEO until 2013. Laura then joined Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy as a Sales Manager from 2013 to 2015. During their tenure, they successfully implemented corporate contract and variable contract structures, leading to increased bookings and regular guest numbers. Laura also mentored two trainees who obtained their BBA degrees.
From 2015 to 2016, Laura worked as a Sales Manager at The Hoxton, a boutique hotel. After that, they pursued their passion for traveling and took a sabbatical from 2017 to 2020, exploring various destinations.
Laura returned to work in the hospitality industry in 2016, where they worked as a Hospitality Professional until 2021. Currently, they are an Account Manager at Xomnia, a leading AI consulting boutique. In this role, they use their problem-solving skills and belief in the transformative power of data and AI to contribute to positive and sustainable change.
Laura Huizing began their education journey in 2000 at RGO Middelharnis, where they completed their University Entrance Level. In 2006, they attended Don Quijote in Barcelona, where they successfully completed a Spanish Language Course at certificate level B1. Moving forward, they enrolled in Hotelschool The Hague from 2008 to 2012 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a focus on Hospitality Administration/Management. Seeking further education, Laura attended Maastricht University School of Business and Economics from 2012 to 2013, where they pursued an MSc in International Business with a specialization in Entrepreneurship & SME Management. Most recently, in 2021, they pursued their interest in wine and completed the Wset 3 program at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.
