Michael Ritter

Director Msat/product Director at WuXi Advanced Therapies

Michael Ritter has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Michael started their career as a Technician at Aventis Pasteur, where they provided support for process scale-up and clinical production. Michael then worked at Cambrex as a Manufacturing Associate before joining Sanofi Pasteur. At Sanofi Pasteur, they held various roles including R2L Tech 2/3, Manager of Filling and Packaging/Manager of Continuous Improvement, and Consultant. In these roles, they managed employees, oversaw processes, supported audits, and conducted scale-up and design of experiments for clinical production.

After their time at Sanofi Pasteur, Michael joined Oakwood Laboratories as the Director of Manufacturing Operations. Michael was responsible for building the Manufacturing Operations and Support Services teams from scratch, preparing for the phase III clinical production of a new product. Michael also had Tech Transfer responsibilities and updated company records and SOPs.

Michael then moved on to FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies as the Director of Planning and later as the Director of Manufacturing. Michael played a key role in starting up and operational planning for pandemic influenza response and building the Manufacturing Operations and Materials Management teams. Michael also created budgets for multiple departments and was responsible for viral, bacterial, and cell banking functions.

Following their time at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, Michael worked at Avista Pharma Solutions as the Senior Director of Corporate Planning. Michael was responsible for operations planning and scheduling activities across multiple sites and was involved in quality initiatives and harmonization projects.

After Avista Pharma Solutions, Michael worked at PLUS THERAPEUTICS as the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Operations and San Antonio Site Lead. Michael managed the day-to-day operations of the San Antonio site, including manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, and facilities. Michael led assay and process development for liposomal generics and new drugs.

Before their current role, Michael worked at Empower Pharmacy as a Manufacturing Consultant and Director of Manufacturing. Michael led operations for sterile manufacturing, purchasing/warehousing, inspection, quality assurance, and pelleting operations. Michael also created budget and staffing plans and oversaw the manufacturing of controlled substances, cytotoxic products, and high-potent drugs.

Currently, Michael is working at WuXi Advanced Therapies as the Director of MSAT. Michael is responsible for building and developing a new MSAT function and leading the development of technical operations, tech transfer, and process validation functions to support cell and gene therapies.

Throughout their career, Michael has demonstrated expertise in operations management, process development, quality assurance, and team leadership.

Michael Ritter's education history is as follows:

From 2006 to 2009, Michael attended East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biology.

Prior to that, from 1998 to 2002, they attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Michael'sfield of study during this time was Cell Biology, with a minor in Chemistry and Ecology.

Before their undergraduate education, from 1994 to 1997, Michael studied at the University of Miami. Although the degree obtained during this period is not mentioned, their field of study was Environmental Engineering.

Lastly, Michael completed their high school education at Williamsport Area High School, although the specific years of attendance are not provided.
