Rachel Gartner is an experienced media professional currently serving as a Morning News Anchor and Multimedia Journalist at WSIL-TV since July 2022. Formerly unemployed from May 2020 to the present, Rachel held the position of Director of Public Relations for the City of Benton, Illinois from January 2017 to May 2020, and Media Director at NubAbility Athletic Foundation from May 2015 to October 2017. Rachel’s diverse background includes serving as Co-Executive Producer at Growing Media Inc. and as Associate Professor/News Director at Southern Illinois University, where responsibilities included curriculum development and hands-on student mentorship. Rachel began a career in journalism as a Multimedia Journalist at WSIL TV 3, where notable achievements included being the first female MMJ in the market. Rachel earned a Master of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and an Associate of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Rend Lake College.
