Jay Zhang has a background in cell biology and biochemistry. Jay started their career in 2013 as a Research Technician at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they successfully constructed an E. coli system to produce and purify transhydrogenase from T. thermophilus. In 2017, they moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they worked as a Research Assistant. During this time, they discovered topological defects in mesothelium could prevent ovarian cancer invasion via neighbor alignment, and they co-cultured and developed an ovarian cancer model. In 2022, they began working as an Associate Scientist (Cell Bio) at Wildtype.
Jay Zhang attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2013 to 2015 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry. Jay then went on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they are currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Biophysics and is expected to graduate in 2022.
