Peter Cummuskey has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Peter started their career as a Storyteller for Ravenholme LARP, coordinating and managing a dark-fantasy live-action roleplaying game. Peter then worked as a Software Engineer for Imaging Technology, where they handled contact migration and provided technical support.
Subsequently, Peter joined CADPRO Systems Ltd as a Software Engineer, developing an application for managing AutoCAD drawing files. Peter also worked as a Consultant for Auckland Regional Transport Authority, where they focused on software development and administration tasks.
Peter then joined Nexus: Auckland Awakenings as a Storyteller, creating and managing a supernatural-themed game with a historical twist. Following this, they worked at Bulletin Wireless as a Software Developer, specializing in customer-facing web applications.
At The University of Auckland, Peter worked as a Developer, delivering bespoke applications for various university needs. Their responsibilities included codebase development, project management, and extensive experience with Java, Groovy, and Spring.
Peter then joined Bravura Solutions as a Senior Technical Consultant, where they worked on DevOps tooling, infrastructure, and cloud provisioning. Peter was also involved in modernizing packaging and deployment methods using Docker, Kubernetes, and various other technologies.
Currently, Peter is working at Westpac New Zealand as a Senior Platform Engineer and Platform Engineering Chapter Lead, responsible for leading a chapter and overseeing the engineering of the platform.
Throughout their career, Peter has gained expertise in various technologies and frameworks such as C#, ASP.NET, AngularJS, Java, Maven, Docker, Chef, Jenkins, and more.
Peter Cummuskey completed their education from 2001 to 2004 at Selwyn College but did not obtain a degree or study any specific field. From 2002 to 2008, they attended Auckland University of Technology and obtained a BEngTech degree in Software Engineering. In terms of additional certifications, Peter received the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in August 2021. In 2015, they also earned a Duolingo German Fluency: Beginner (Estimated) certification from Duolingo.
