Senior Manager of Data Science at Westhill

Andrew Walnum has a wealth of experience in the data science field. Andrew began their career in 2011 as a Trail Crew Member for AmeriCorps, where they built rock retaining walls for hiking trails in the Reno/Tahoe area. In 2012, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the Joint Science Department of the Claremont Colleges, where they were responsible for preparing samples for stable isotope analysis and laser ablation mass spectrometry, finding information through primary journal articles, operating scanning electron microscopes, and mentoring underclassmen in proper lab techniques and equipment use. In 2014, they worked as a Staff Scientist for The Source Group, Inc., where they were responsible for QA/QC for environmental data, helping compile work plans and environmental reports, and various field work activities. In 2018, they worked as a Data Analyst for Apex Systems, where they utilized proprietary GIS software, was responsible for content analysis, validation, cleansing, collection, and reporting, and performed QA/QC for large data sets. In 2019, they worked as a Data Science Student for Springboard. In 2020, they worked as a Financial Data Analyst for Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP, and as a Consultant for Risk and Response. Currently, they are a Senior Manager of Data Science for Westhill.

Andrew Walnum attended Dougherty Valley High School from 2007 to 2010, and then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Environmental Analysis - Environmental Science Track from Pitzer College in 2014. In 2019, they obtained a Data Analytics Certificate from Cornell University. Andrew is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Geology/Earth Science, General from Boston College.
