Senior Vp, National Sales at Welvie

Ted Meads has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Ted began their career as an Instructor/Program Coordinator at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in 1971. Ted then worked as a Staff Aide to the Joint House/Senate Health & Welfare Committee in the Virginia General Assembly, where they played a crucial role in restructuring the Mental Health and Alcohol/Drug state departments through legislation.

In 1978, Meads joined CIGNA Behavioral Health (previously MCC, Inc.) and held the position of VP, Sales. Ted was responsible for local EAP sales in the Twin Cities Metro Area and national behavioral carve-out sales to health plans. After a successful tenure at CIGNA, they joined Value Health in 1989 as VP, Sales. Value Health owned multiple health-focused companies, and Meads played a vital role in selling across the product lines, with a specific focus on behavioral services and Value Health Sciences.

In 2000, Meads transitioned to Lumenos, a start-up company that pioneered consumer-driven healthcare plans. In their role as VP National Sales, they contributed significantly to the company's growth until it was acquired by WellPoint in 2005. Meads remained with WellPoint (now Anthem) until 2008, serving as Senior VP, National Sales at Welvie, a healthcare firm specializing in consumer tools for informed surgical decision-making. At Welvie, they successfully marketed and sold surgery analytics, consumer-engagement strategies, and decision support engines to health insurance carriers, health plans, and large employers, emphasizing cost optimization and outcomes improvement.

Ted Meads has a BA in History from Cornell College, is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Administration from the University of Minnesota, has a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) Honors in Philosophy and Religious Studies from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and has studied Political Science and Government at Mansfield College, University of Oxford.
