Matt Saitz

Strength & Conditioning Coach at Webster University Leiden

Matt Saitz came to Webster University in August of 2011.

Along with serving as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Webster Athletics, Saitz also is an adjunct professor of Exercise Science in the Biological Sciences Department and is also the staff advisor for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Saitz began his strength and conditioning career interning for his mentor Tyler O’Banion, Former Assistant, and Interim Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Missouri State University, along with shadowing Tyler with his private training clientele. He also had the opportunity to serve as a Guest Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Notre Dame for their 2007 Strength and Speed Clinic.

Following his internship, Saitz accepted a position at Excel Sports and Physical Therapy, in Cottleville, Mo., serving as an Athletic Enhancement Specialist, physically preparing youth, high school, and collegiate athletes.

In 2008, Saitz accepted a position as a Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Atlanta Braves Professional Baseball Organization. Following the 2008 season, he was promoted to Assistant Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, which is a position he held from 2008-2011. During his tenure with the Braves, he was responsible for designing, implementing, and assisting in overseeing the strength and conditioning protocols for all six Atlanta Braves Minor League Affiliates.

Saitz received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, with an emphasis in Health and Wellness, from Missouri State University in 2007 and completed his Master’s Degree in Education and Innovation from Webster University in 2014.

He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Saitz also served on the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Missouri State Advisory Board from 2012-16.
