Florien Gorter is a researcher specializing in bacteriology and microbial ecology at Wageningen Plant Research since May 2022. Prior experience includes serving as a Data Steward at Radboudumc from October 2020 to April 2022, where policy for handling research data was developed and implemented within the Department of Human Genetics. At ETH Zürich, from April 2017 to September 2020, Florien conducted postdoctoral research on interspecific interactions in microbial communities, utilizing experimental evolution and genomic approaches. Florien completed a PhD at Wageningen University from July 2011 to February 2017, focusing on experimental evolution of metal tolerance in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Earlier roles include chairing the Wageningen Evolution and Ecology Seminars Committee, working as a secretarial officer at Wageningen RIKILT, and participating in internships at the University of Oxford and UC Berkeley. Education includes a PhD and MSc in biology from Wageningen University & Research, along with a BSc in biology.
