John F. Connolly, PhD has a diverse and extensive work experience in the fields of cognitive neuroscience and brain injury. John is currently a Co-Founder and Advisory Board Chair at VoxNeuro, where they integrate their breakthrough scientific methods into the clinical setting. John also serves as the Chief Science Officer.
Dr. Connolly has held multiple roles at McMaster University, including Professor Emeritus in the School of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Psychology Neuroscience & Behaviour, and the Department of Linguistics & Languages. John has supervised and mentored graduate students, secured funding for various projects related to brain function, and contributed to research in brain computer interfacing and neuroscience.
Additionally, Dr. Connolly has served as a Faculty Affiliate at The Vector Institute of Artificial Intelligence, where they aimed to improve the application of advanced neuroscience methodologies in clinical settings. John has also been a Scientific Advisor for Brain Injury Canada/Lésions Cérébrale Canada, contributing to the development of a resource website and promoting evidence-based information and social inclusion.
Before their time at McMaster University, Dr. Connolly worked as a Professor at Dalhousie University, where they established a successful research lab focused on neurophysiological manifestations of cognitive processing. John made significant discoveries in the field, including the phonological mapping negativity and demonstrating cognitive functions in patients mistakenly diagnosed as being in a vegetative state.
Earlier in their career, Dr. Connolly held the position of Senior Research Associate at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, where they established their first EEG/ERP laboratory and conducted research.
Dr. Connolly has also held visiting professorships at Aalto University, Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University), and the University of Helsinki, collaborating with esteemed colleagues on studies involving magnetoencephalography (MEG) and cognitive processing.
