Senior Director, Laboratory Support Services at Vitalant

Sarah Martinec has extensive work experience in the field of laboratory support services and immunohematology. Sarah currently holds the position of Senior Director of Laboratory Support Services at Vitalant, starting in August 2021. Prior to joining Vitalant, they worked at QualTex Laboratories from August 2018 to July 2021, where they served as the Senior Manager of the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory and as a Corporate Account Executive. Their responsibilities at QualTex Laboratories included providing lab consultation services, managing immunohematology donor testing and transfusion services, and overseeing the SBB program, CLS, MLT student clinical rotations. Sarah also played a key role in developing the laboratory into a "World Class IRL" by implementing automation and LEAN workflow strategies.

Before their time at QualTex Laboratories, Sarah worked at Grifols Diagnostics Solutions as the Senior Manager of Education and Training from April 2016 to August 2018. In this role, they provided external education on immunohematology reference laboratory subject matter and was responsible for employee training and training lab maintenance.

Prior to that, Sarah was the Lab Manager at Houston Methodist from an unspecified start date to 2016. Sarah managed the Blood Donor Center and Outpatient Laboratory and oversaw the hospital-based blood center and phlebotomy collection service.

From an unspecified start date to 2014, Sarah worked at CHI St. Luke's Health Blood Center as the Technical Supervisor. Their responsibilities in this role included quality assurance activities for recruitment, collection, and component preparation services.

Sarah Martinec also holds additional certifications, including a Medical Technologist (MT) certification and a Specialist in Blood Banking (ASCP-SBB) certification, both obtained from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
