Jama Mohamed has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Jama is currently working at VideoAmp as a Principal Engineer and Team-lead. Prior to that, they were an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) at The Fund. Jama also founded their own companies, including DereProject and Sahara, where they served as the CEO. Jama has a strong background in technology and entrepreneurship, with experience in hardware and software development. Jama has also worked as a Business Associate at Techstars, where they assisted startups in finding product-market fit and preparing for fundraising. Additionally, they have worked as an Associate Intern at PLG Ventures, performing due diligence and evaluating pitches. Jama's other notable roles include being the Founder of JM Technologies IO, where they provided hardware, software, and systems development solutions to startups, and being the Co-Founder of Herth, where they focused on 3D visualization and machine learning. Jama was also a Co-Founder of Astrogro, a company that developed a fully automated 3D-printed plant growing system.
Jama Mohamed completed their high school education at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from 2005 to 2009. Jama then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Caltech from 2009 to 2013. Recently, from 2019 to 2021, Jama pursued a Master of Business Administration degree in Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital at UCLA Anderson School of Management.
