Dr. Rafael Etges, DBA, MSc, MBA has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity and information management. Dr. Rafael is currently serving as the Sr. Director of Corporate Security at Vena Solutions, where they focus on maintaining the company's security posture and ensuring product resilience. Prior to this, Dr. Etges worked as the Chief Information Security Officer at SideDrawerâ„¢ Inc., where they led IT and cybersecurity risk management, governance, and compliance efforts. Dr. Rafael also served as an executive advisor for cybersecurity at Strata Advisory Group, providing innovative risk management services and strategic advice to various security and technology officers.

Dr. Etges has a strong background in the energy sector, having worked as a Cybersecurity Leadership/GRC/Risk Advisor at AltaGas Ltd., where they played a key role in building a robust cybersecurity program that enabled the company to achieve its goals, including the acquisition of WGL Holdings, Inc. Dr. Rafael also served as the AVP of Global Information Security Management at Manulife, where they provided leadership, oversight, and governance for global information/cyber security risk management.

In addition to their industry experience, Dr. Etges has academic experience as well. Dr. Rafael served as an Academic Coordinator for the Cyber Security Program at York University and as a Faculty member at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, where they taught operations management and quantitative reasoning for management. Dr. Rafael also conducted doctoral research on cybersecurity and issues of consumer and societal trust in online capabilities at Henley Business School.
