Olivia Sabik is currently a Staff Data Scientist at Valo Health, where they are a part of the data science team working on the integrated drug discovery and development platform, Opal. Olivia'srole involves leveraging human-centric data and machine learning approaches to accelerate and de-risk all stages of the drug discovery and development pipeline. Prior to joining Valo, Olivia worked as a Senior Data Scientist at the same company.

Before their time at Valo, Olivia was a PhD Candidate at the University of Virginia, where they conducted research on identifying novel genes influencing bone mineral density. Olivia integrated a murine osteoblast-derived co-expression network with functional annotations to identify candidate genes and used colocalization of candidate eQTL and BMD GWAS and mouse knockout models to validate results.

During their time at Kenyon College, Olivia held various roles, including Admissions Fellow, Lead Tutor in Biology and Chemistry, Summer Science Intern, Tour Guide, and Laboratory Teaching Assistant.

Olivia also gained experience as a Computational and Comparative Genomics Course Teaching Assistant at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a Summer Research Fellow at The Ohio State University Medical Center, and a Student Intern at Cleveland Clinic. At Cleveland Clinic, they conducted research and volunteered in various departments.

Overall, Olivia Sabik has a strong background in data science, genomics, and research, with experience in both academic and industry settings.

Olivia Sabik completed their education in a chronological order. Olivia started their education at Gilmour Academy from 2006 to 2010, where they obtained their high school degree. Following that, they attended Kenyon College from 2010 to 2014, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Chemistry. Lastly, they pursued their higher education at the University of Virginia from 2014 to 2019, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.
