German Betancourt has worked in various roles since 2013. In 2021, they began working as a Scientist II and Scientist I at Serán Bioscience, LLC. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as a Quality Control Chemist at Becton Dickinson. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Sales Representative Intern at VWR. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Research Assistant and Safety Specialist Student Assistant at The University of Texas at El Paso. As a Research Assistant, they synthesized novel fullerene derivatives and small organic molecules, purified fullerene and non-fullerene molecules, and characterized chemical samples. As a Safety Specialist Student Assistant, they carried out AED, eye wash, and safety shower inspections, assisted in the development and testing of a fire extinguisher inspection app, and managed a Safety Data Sheet database. As a Sales Representative Intern, they assisted the regional sales representative and provided face-to-face customer service.

German Betancourt attended The University of Texas at El Paso from 2013 to 2017 and earned a degree in Biochemistry with a focus in Organic Chemistry.
