Dylan Spaulding is a Senior Scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists since September 2022. Prior to this role, Dylan served as a Project Scientist at UC Davis from January 2016 to August 2022, where key contributions included building and commissioning a light gas gun facility and developing diagnostics for shock compression experiments. With a solid academic background, Dylan held the position of Origins Initiative Post-Doctoral Fellow in Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University from November 2012 to December 2015, and worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives focusing on high-pressure/high-temperature experiments. Earlier experience includes roles as a Graduate Student Researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and as a Natural Science Instructor for children through the Maria Mitchell Association. Dylan earned a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Sc.B. in Physics/Astronomy from Brown University.
