Alexandra Fries is a seasoned professional in environmental management, currently serving as a Senior Science Communicator at the Integration and Application Network (IAN) within the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science since May 2011. Alexandra has extensive experience in assessing, monitoring, and managing aquatic, marine, and terrestrial ecosystems. Prior roles include Climate Change Consultant at Conservation International, where a guidebook for climate change vulnerability assessments was developed, and Invertebrate Zoology Intern at the Smithsonian Institution, contributing to a global LifeDesk for cephalopod species. Additionally, experience as a Research Intern at the Consortium for Ocean Leadership involved updating the Census of Marine Life webpage. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from Duke University and a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
