Michael Francis has worked in the aerospace industry since 2006. Michael began their career as a Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman Corporation, where they worked until 2011. Michael then moved to Quantech Services, Inc., where they continued in the same role. In 2018, they joined Umbra as the Vice President of Space Systems and later became the Director of Spacecraft.

Michael Francis obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 2002 and 2006. Michael then attended the Naval Postgraduate School and earned a Master of Science (MS) in Military Space Systems Operations between 2006 and 2009. Additionally, they hold a PMI Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
