Shanu Kumar has worked in a variety of positions since 2009. Shanu began their career as an undergraduate at IIT Kharagpur in 2009. In 2011, they were a Research Trainee at the School of Medical Science and Technology, as well as an Undergraduate Intern at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. Shanu was also the Vice-President of the Kharagpur Finance & Marketing Group, where they headed the web and content team for the development of a new website. In 2012, they were a Research Intern at Philips Innovation Campus, where they conducted a feasibility study on the design and development of a non-invasive sensor for measurement of Total Hemoglobin. In 2013, they became a Technical Associate at I-Runway. Most recently, in 2018, they founded SciSpace (formerly Typeset), a platform that allows users to create, discover, and consume research content.
Shanu Kumar attended Delhi Public School from 1999 to 2008. Shanu then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur from 2009 to 2013. In 2013, they completed a Stanford Ignite program in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
