Eric Wistrand began their work experience as a Trim Carpenter at Porter Builders in January 2007. Eric worked in this role until September 2009. Eric then joined GT Business Design LLC in December 2010 as a Web Developer, where they built and managed custom designed websites using various platforms and coding languages. Eric stayed with GT Business Design until December 2016. In 2014, Eric became the Owner of Code Local, and in October 2016, they took on the role of Chief Technology Officer at Truly Free, where they currently work.

Eric Wistrand attended Traverse City Central High School from 1996 to 1999. During this time, they studied Computer Aided Drafting and Design. Eric did not obtain a degree from the high school. In 2017, Eric obtained the certification "Learn CodeIgniter 3: The Basics" from Lynda.com. Additionally, they have a certification in "Up and Running With Git" from Lynda.com, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
