Josh Humphrey is a native of Kearny and a proud product of its public school system. After graduating from Kearny High School in the class of 1992, he attended Montclair State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English. While holding a part-time Monitor job in the Kearny Library, he quickly developed a passion for the work and decided to attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, where he earned a Graduate Degree in Library Science. After working for eight years in the Morris County, NJ library system as both a Media and Reader’s Services Librarian, he was overjoyed to return to the Kearny Library as its Director in 2010. In his time as your Library Director, he has developed an even deeper appreciation of Kearny and has tried, through programming and services, to place the KPL in the center of this vibrant community. He is married to Jennifer Humphrey, one of the finest Kearny teachers. Together, they have two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family, reading and writing poetry.
