Whitney Smithers currently serves as the General Manager of Municipal Infrastructure for the Town of Canmore, providing leadership across various municipal functions including public works and planning. Previous experience includes serving as the Presiding Officer and Tribunal Member for the Municipal Government Board, where adjudication in assessment and planning matters was conducted. Whitney has held several strategic roles within the City of Calgary, such as Director of City Wide Policy & Integration and Manager of Strategic Initiatives, contributing to major planning and development initiatives. Early career experiences include planning roles at UMA Engineering, Reid Crowther Ltd, and the Calgary Downtown Association, complemented by a background in project management and coordination. Whitney holds an Honours BA in Geography from Western University and a distinction-awarded MEDes in Environmental Design from the University of Calgary.
