Emma Carver serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Media Partnerships at Torstar Corporation since March 2020, previously holding the position of Legal Director, Media & Editorial. Prior to joining Torstar, Emma worked as a Lawyer at Polley Faith LLP from September 2015 to February 2020, during which a leave was taken to serve as a Litigation and Policy Advisor to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada at the Department of Justice Canada from September 2016 to September 2018. Emma's early career includes a Judicial Law Clerk position at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, a Summer Law Student role at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, and various positions at Downtown Legal Services and the Canadian Health Economics Study Group. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor with Honours from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from McGill University.
