Dr. Raj Ambay has an extensive work history starting with their role as a Colonel-General and Trauma Surgeon in the US Army since 1997. Raj later transitioned into plastic surgery roles at James A Haley Veterans Hospital and their own practice, Ambay Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ambay also held positions in medical informatics and healthcare technology at TISTA Science and Technology Corporation and Nine Line Medical, where they served as CEO and Founder. Additionally, they were involved in medical device development at Johns Hopkins Medicine and served on advisory boards at organizations like OptumInsight and the American Medical Association.
Raj Ambay, M.D., D.D.S. started their education journey in 1988 at Northwestern University Dental School where they obtained their DDS degree in Dentistry in 1993. Raj then pursued further education in Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, graduating with an MD degree in 2002. Subsequently, they completed a Residency in General Surgery at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences from 2002 to 2005. Following this, they specialized in Plastic Surgery through a Residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2005 to 2009. Additionally, they focused on Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center from 2009 to 2010. Raj also engaged in executive education for Board Development at Harvard Kennedy School and Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management in 2011 and 2006, respectively. Throughout their career, Raj Ambay obtained certifications including being a Board Certified Dentist and being Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
