Gary Purvey has a diverse work experience in the technology field. Gary is currently working at The R&A as the Head of Operations and Support, where they lead teams and ensures the organization's technology is secure and effective. Prior to this, they were a Digital Apps Development Manager at Care Inspectorate, managing software development teams and ensuring timely delivery of quality products. Gary also worked as an ICT Systems Manager at CALEDONIA HOUSING ASSOCIATION LIMITED, managing technological infrastructure and vendors. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Applications Support Professional at Atos, supporting NHS Scotland Screening systems, and as a Software Engineer at NHS Tayside, developing software for healthcare professionals. Gary also worked as a Pre-Sales Technical Consultant at C(2) Software and as a Web Application Developer at Saragon Healthcare.

Gary Purvey obtained a Bachelor of Science with Honors degree in Applied Computing from the University of Dundee between 1995 and 1999. Prior to their university education, they attended St Saviours High School from 1989 to 1995. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications throughout their career, including PRINCE2 Agile® Foundation from PeopleCert in April 2022, ITIL v4 Foundation Level from PeopleCert in March 2020, Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Database from Indicia Training in July 2017, ILM SQCF 9 Award in Leadership from the Social Enterprise Academy Scotland in April 2016, and Microsoft Reporting Services 2012 from Indicia Training in August 2015.
