Michael Wallus

Vice President For Educator Support at The Math Learning Center

Michael Wallus has a diverse work experience in the field of education, specifically in mathematics. Michael started their career as an Adjunct Faculty at Hamline University from 2008-2011. Michael then worked as a K-6 Elementary Teacher at Valley Crossing Community School from 1996-2012, where they also served as a member of the VCCS site-based council and led the Valley Crossing Math Committee.

In 2012, they joined Minneapolis Public Schools as an Elementary Math Coordinator, providing professional development to teachers and administrators, and managing the implementation of the elementary mathematics curriculum and benchmark assessment tools. Michael continued in this role until 2016.

From 2016-2019, Michael worked at Richfield Public Schools as the Director of Mathematics. In this role, they provided professional development to teachers and principals, coordinated and managed the implementation of the K-12 mathematics curriculum, and was responsible for district-wide mathematics intervention tools.

Currently, they are employed at The Math Learning Center. Michael started as the Director of Educator Support from 2019-2020 and is currently serving as the Vice President for Educator Support. In this role, they support the professional learning infrastructure, leads various teams, and helps teachers understand how children think about mathematics and effectively differentiate instruction using the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum.

Michael Wallus completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Minnesota Duluth in the years 1992 to 1995. Michael then went on to pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, from 1999 to 2001, with a focus on Education.
