John, a native Houstonian, is married to Mary Beth, and they were blessed with four children. His family was forever changed 20 years ago by a fatal car crash when their oldest son, Johnny, lost his life, and his second son, Christopher, sustained a traumatic brain injury. The accident has impacted the family in many ways and drives much of their community service. Currently John serves on the board of The Institute of Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) Foundation as Christopher spent time there after the accident, and they are forever committed to this organization’s success. Both Mary Beth and John have always been active in the schools and activities of their children and in the community at large. Most recently they have raised money for various charities including, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Houston Botanic Garden, The Women’s Fund and Bo’s Place to name just a few. John is an active sportsman, marathoner, and cyclist – putting into action the healthy habits the museum promotes.
