Elena Barrera is an accomplished journalist and reporter currently serving as a Breaking News Reporter for the Tallahassee Democrat since May 2023. Prior experience includes freelance writing and an editorial internship at Everyday Health, where research and article writing were key responsibilities. Elena also worked at WUFT News, reporting for both First at Five and Fresh Take Florida. Educationally, Elena obtained a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Florida, where roles as a non-grading teaching assistant and strategic communications intern further developed skills in communication and audience engagement. Additional experience includes serving as a piano accompanist for Saint Anastasia Catholic Church, webmaster for the Nino Research Group, and customer experience guide at Leonard's.
