Hina Mohammed

Senior Data Scientist at Syapse

Hina Mohammed, MPH has a diverse work experience in public health research and data analysis.

From 2021 to present, they worked at Syapse as an Insights Analyst. In this role, Hina spearheaded analyses using R for retrospective studies analyzing patients with various types of cancer. Hina provided epidemiological and analytical support for collaborations between health systems and life science companies to identify gaps in patient care and design interventions. Hina also worked extensively with complex real-world data in the Syapse Learning Health Network.

Prior to that, Hina was a Cancer Epidemiology Fellow from 2021 to 2022. Hina conducted literature reviews and collaborated with senior epidemiologists to develop research protocols for retrospective analyses among cancer patients. Hina also acted as the epidemiological lead for a collaboration looking at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cancer care. Hina analyzed patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) using Syapse's analytical data exploration tool.

In 2020 to 2021, Hina worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health. Hina designed and executed study protocols for an NIH grant focused on minorities research. Hina conducted statistical analyses using SAS with nationally representative administrative claims datasets and collaborated on developing machine-learning models. Additionally, Hina collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to formulate research plans and prepare research manuscripts for publication.

In 2018, Hina had two internships. At the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, they collaborated with researchers to formulate a research plan and analyzed specimen slides using confocal microscopy techniques. This research contributed to a better understanding of molecular pathways in sperm production. At Anthem Biosciences Private Limited, Hina worked in the Pre-clinical Research department and conducted drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies. Hina also gained experience in cell culture laboratory techniques and bio-analytical studies.

In 2017, Hina worked as a Research Assistant at Vellore Institute of Technology. Hina supported principal investigators and worked as the corresponding author for a systematic review on drug-resistance and specific miRNA expressions in breast cancer. The study was accepted and published in 2019.

Hina Mohammed, MPH, obtained their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology from The George Washington University- Milken Institute School of Public Health from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Biotechnology from Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, from 2015 to 2019.
