Michael Shao, MD, RPVI, is an accomplished vascular surgeon currently serving as Section Chief of Vascular Surgery at Swedish Hospital since September 2012, overseeing a broad vascular surgery practice that includes carotid disease management and aneurysm repairs. In addition to this role, Michael holds multiple advisory and committee positions focused on clinical documentation, quality improvement, and health informatics. As a speaker and consultant for Medtronic and Boston Scientific, Michael provides educational support to healthcare professionals and has contributed to clinically significant trials like VIEW-VLU. Michael has extensive experience in medical-legal consulting through MK Shao LLC and has held previous positions at institutions such as the University of Chicago Medical Center, where accolades include the Alpha Omega Alpha Teaching Award. Michael's educational foundation includes a BS in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and advanced training in vascular surgery at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
