Oliver Geden has held various influential positions since 2006, currently serving as Head of Research Cluster Climate Policy and Politics and Senior Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). In addition to this role, Geden is a Non-resident Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna and an Associate Fellow at the University of Oxford's Institute for Science, Innovation and Society. Geden also plays a significant role in climate science as Vice-Chair of Working Group III for the IPCC and has contributed as a Lead Author for the AR6 Working Group III Report. Previous engagements include visiting research roles at several prestigious institutions and policy advising at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Germany. Geden earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin between 2003 and 2006.
