Ben Sampson is the managing director of Standard Investments at Standard Industries. Ben has over 9 years of experience in the investment industry, with a focus on transportation, logistics, manufacturing, energy, and the built environment. Prior to joining Standard Industries, they were a director at GE Ventures, where they founded the company in 2013 and led investments in Aras, Arctic Sand, Clearpath Robotics, Desktop Metal, Lucid, Optomec, Proterra, Sarcos Robotics, Sensity Systems, Teem, and Volta. Ben also served as a project manager at Mechanology, Inc., where they managed the development of a 30kW positive displacement steam expander. During their time at Mechanology, they also wrote a simulation program using MATLAB to optimize key machine geometries and operating parameters.

Ben Sampson has a Masters in Engineering Management from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, an AB in Engineering Sciences modified with Studio Art from Dartmouth College, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth.
