Jie G. has a diverse work experience, beginning with their role as an AIESEC Global Volunteer in 2012. Jie then worked as a Research Assistant at the Mineta Transportation Institute in 2016, followed by a Graduate Teaching Assistant position at San Jose State University in 2017. In the same year, they also worked as a GIS Data Analyst at Apple, a Junior Planner and Designer at Taecker Planning & Design, and a Planning Intern at the City of Emeryville. In 2019, Jie G. worked as a Product Designer at QuantUrban, designing an application called Community Compass which won 1st place at the Shenzhen Open Data Innovation Contest. Most recently, they have been working as a User Experience Designer at OMERS, optimizing digital experiences and accessibility for 500k members, and designing and launching the Retirement Planner. In 2021, Jie G. began working as a Product Designer at SpotHero.
Jie G. began their educational journey in 2015 when they completed a Certificate in Applications of Technology in Planning and a Certificate in Community Design and Development from San Jose State University. They then pursued a Master of Urban Planning from San Jose State University from 2015 to 2017. Afterward, Jie G. obtained seven certifications from various institutions, including Coursera, LinkedIn, and Planetizen Courses. In 2019, Jie G. began a Master of Information in User Experience Design from the University of Toronto, which they are currently completing.
