Athanasia Nikolaou is an experienced professional currently serving as an EO Visualization Support Engineer for ESA at Solenix since July 2024 and as a science communicator at Space42 Europe since February 2023. With a strong background in research and project management, Nikolaou has been a project manager for Lecturers Without Borders since January 2020, a research fellow focusing on artificial intelligence for Earth observation at the European Space Agency from January 2021 to February 2022, and a visiting researcher during a postdoctoral fellowship on the ARIEL mission at Sapienza Università di Roma until February 2022. Nikolaou's research background includes a PhD in planetary physics from Technische Universität Berlin, with a focus on magma ocean convection and interactions in terrestrial and exoplanets, and previous positions at the German Aerospace Center and the Institute for Hydrobiology & Fisheries Science. Continuous professional development includes courses in social media marketing from Meta Facebook and communication science from the University of Amsterdam.
