Annika Granholm Toernqvist has a diverse work experience in the digital media industry. Annika started their career as a Book Editor and project manager at Kinnevik New Media in 1995. Annika then moved on to work as a Chat and Finance Editor at Torget from 1996 to 1997, and later became the Editor-In-Chief at Torget from 1997 to 1998. As the Editor-In-Chief, they managed all editorial content and staff, boosted sales for Torget's virtual stores, and was responsible for the annual budget.
In 1998, Annika became an Owner and Founder, working as an Author and Strategic Consultant. Annika wrote a book about the IT boom and helped Swedish corporations meet with American corporations in the Internet industry. Annika also wrote for Swedish Internet magazines about Silicon Valley and the Internet boom.
Annika then joined Microsoft as a Producer in 2000, where they managed the WebTV shopping center and increased the number of shopping partners. Annika later became a Content Manager for MSNTV and a Product Manager at Microsoft. In these roles, they led the implementation of MSN eShop to WebTV, merchandised partner stores to increase reach and revenues, and served as the release manager for a successful content and service release.
From 2002 to 2003, Annika worked at Microsoft Sweden as the Manager of Online Support for Northern Europe. Annika then joined SFGate.com in 2008 as a Senior Business and Classifieds Producer, where they managed business, technology, real estate, automotive, and jobs content. Annika was promoted to Senior News and Business Producer, responsible for news, sports, business, technology, real estate, automotive, video, and multimedia.
In 2015, Annika became the Digital Director for 5 News Sites at Sonoma Media Investments, LLC. Annika was in charge of digital strategy, online experience, content, and traffic for multiple local newspapers, a magazine, and a Spanish-language news site. Annika later took on the role of Senior News Director and then Chief Digital Officer (CDO). As CDO, they worked with teams across the business to generate digital solutions and oversee the launch of new digital products and services.

Annika Granholm Toernqvist completed their Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business/Management from Uppsala University from 1990 to 1994. Prior to that, they attended Brännkyrka Gymnasium from 1986 to 1989, where they majored in Science for their high school education.
