Thomas Willomitzer

Founder and CEO at SnapOdds

Thomas Willomitzer has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Thomas is currently the Founder and CEO of Snapscreen, a technology company based in New York with offices in Austria. Snapscreen focuses on using mobile devices and image recognition for broadcast TV and streaming in the sports and entertainment industry. Their product, SnapOdds, is designed for the US sports betting market. Prior to Snapscreen, Thomas worked as the Founding Chief Technology Officer at JUMIO, a position they held from 2011 to 2015.

Before JUMIO, Thomas co-founded and served as the CTO of Youhelp, an Austrian-based crowdfunding platform. At Youhelp, they targeted Austria's NGO for fundraising using various payment methods. Thomas also worked at Credit Suisse as a C++ Senior Developer, where they assisted the development team in improving exchange connectivity latency and provided architectural consulting for exchange connectivity interfaces.

Before Credit Suisse, Thomas worked at UniCredit Markets & Investment Banking as a Software Architect and Lead Developer. Thomas acted as the chief architect and lead engineer for a cross-platform and cross-language exchange connectivity system, which greatly improved uptime, performance, and product delivery times. Prior to UniCredit, Thomas was a Senior C++ Developer at UBS Investment Bank, where they developed exchange links for the bank's algorithmic trading platforms.

Thomas also worked at BrokerHub as a CTO and Java/C++ Developer, where they contributed to the company's core trading and price dissemination system. Thomas collaborated with major clients such as UBS, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill Lynch. Additionally, Thomas co-founded Last.fm, one of the world's largest online music communities, where they developed the original concept for a personalized music selection platform.

Throughout their career, Thomas has held various roles in web/internet-related software development projects, mostly as a lead developer and technical team leader. Some of the companies they have worked with include Restplatzboerse/Kuoni, Infovision, and Alcatel Austria.

Thomas Willomitzer started their education in 1990 at HTL Spengergasse (School for Computer Science), where they obtained an A-Level/Matura degree in IT in 1995. Thomas then continued their studies at Technische Universität Wien, earning a Diploma in Computer Science from 1995 to 2000. In 2003, Thomas pursued further education at Birkbeck, University of London, obtaining an MSc degree in Computer Science in 2004. Apart from their formal education, Thomas also obtained a certification as RYA Ocean Yachtmaster from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
