Jennifer Paz has extensive experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Jennifer is currently employed at Shorelight as an Instructional Design & Curriculum Specialist for the Academic Affairs team and the American Collegiate Live program. In this role, they manage ESL course builds, trains and supports instructors, and handles administrative tasks. Prior to joining Shorelight, Jennifer worked at Auburn University, where they designed and taught Intensive English and Academic Pathway courses for international students. Jennifer also worked as an ESL instructor and course designer/developer for Shorelight's American Collegiate Live program. Earlier in their career, they served as an instructional designer and ESL subject matter expert for Lingua Education, LLC, where they created an online pronunciation course. Jennifer has also worked at UC Irvine as an adjunct instructor, designing e-learning materials, and at Northern Kentucky University and Brigham Young University as an ESL instructor and tutor. Jennifer has a diverse background in designing and teaching ESL courses, developing curriculum, and training educators.
Jennifer Paz's education history begins in 1985 when they obtained their High School Diploma from Atwater High School. Jennifer then attended Nummela High School from 1988 to 1989, studying Finnish language. In 1989, Jennifer transferred to the University of Iowa and pursued a degree in Linguistics. However, they ultimately transferred to Brigham Young University, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Linguistics from 1990 to 1993. Jennifer continued their education at Brigham Young University and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from 1993 to 1995.
In addition to their formal education, Jennifer has obtained several certifications. In November 2020, they received certifications in "Articulate Storyline 360: Advanced Elearning," "Articulate Storyline Quick Tips," "Elearning Essentials: Storyboarding," "Inclusive Instructional Design," "Instructional Design: Adult Learners," and "Instructional Design: Working with SMEs" from the institution LinkedIn. Jennifer also obtained the certification "Video Strategies for High Engagement" from LinkedIn in June 2021.
