Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class in vivo therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease. We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and motivated individual to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The current role is for a Director, Laboratory and Facilities Operations to join our team and advance our platform. This person will have extensive experiences and technical expertise in managing Engineering, Maintenance, and Laboratory operations and have exceptional leadership skills. Candidate will develop and execute preventative and planned maintenance services and strategies for our facilities, development laboratory functions and office building infrastructure, ensuring high quality, working closely with procurement to ensure inventory levels and best cost practices and efficient operation of the buildings and environment. Additionally, the candidate will be strategically minded, service-oriented, and familiar with biotechnology lab and facility operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

Lab Operations

  • Provide strategic direction, technical supervision and support to the Lab and Facilities Operations team who manages daily operations. Provides regular performance reviews and sets team’s objectives aligned with Scribe’s annual goals and individual development plans.
  • Drive improvements in service, efficiency, and cost reduction through standardization of common practices across the company, Track performance across the 3 areas (service, efficiency, cost reduction). 
  • Establish and own a business continuity plan including extended-hours coverage and response plan.
  • Establish processes and maintain an infrastructure to enable laboratory operations across the organization including:
    • capital plan/expenditures (from forecasting needs to installation), 
    • lab equipment and instrumentation (i.e., contracts, maintenance, repair, calibration, upgrade and retiring), 
    • lab consumables (i.e., contracts, procurement, order management, inventory management)
    • lab safety (i.e., chemical storage, waste, build system for MSDS information, EH&S oversight, and OSHA oversight).
  • Effectively collaborate with members within a fully integrated team to facilitate execution on projects within established timelines
  • Foster a driven, fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment in which to do rigorous science

Facility Operations

  • Provide strategic direction, and supervision to the Facilities Operations team who manages day-to-day operations. Provides regular performance reviews and sets team’s objectives aligned with Scribe’s annual goals and individual development plans.
  • Actively ensure company compliance with all Federal, State and local permits, licenses, and safety regulations
  • Oversight of capital projects where applicable, facilitate communication between all internal and external stakeholders including architects, lab designers and contractors on lab and building renovations and improvements, ensuring projects are completed timely and on budget.
  • Participate in site capacity expansion planning as necessary. Provide design review for facilities/utilities system, layout, personnel flow, and HVAC
  • Supervise facilities vendor management and performance against budget in collaboration with finance function

Required Skills and Background:

  • Proven track record managing research facilities in Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical industries 
  • 12+ years experience in supply chain and lab management 
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent
  • Experience implementing and managing Company wide OSHA, EH&S and other environmental compliance programs
  • In-depth experience with the set-up/design, operation and maintenance of facilities and equipment in a Biotechnology industry setting
  • Experience overseeing the receiving of lab equipment, chemicals, biologics, and temperature sensitive samples and reagents
  • Equipment management experience with maintenance, calibration, and validation of analytical and process equipment
  • Exceptional organization and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in microsoft office, particularly developing powerpoint slides and excel budgets to articulate project spending and progress.
  • Experience with Netsuite or similar ERP system
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team

Preferred Skills and Background:

  • Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches
  • Familiarity with protein or RNA structure and engineering approaches

At the time of posting, the base pay wage range for this role is $200,000-230,000 per year.  The offered pay range will depend on internal equity and the candidate’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, training, and market data.  Additional incentives are provided as part of the complete package in addition to comprehensive medical and other benefits.Â
